.. and Sensational at 70  Lecture Series

"FABULOUS 50 to SEXY at 60: " is a stand-alone LECTURE SERIES and part of the National Physician and Family Referral (NPFR) Project, a Division of 50 Hoops® .   "Fabulous 50 to SEXY at 60" is designed to bring community leaders, survivors, doctors, elected officials churches and other leaders together for dialogue about health care disparities within the African American population and the diseases that critically affect Baby Boomers.  Over the past half decade Host Cities for events include St. Louis, Philadelphia, Detroit, Savannah, Dallas and Houston. Outreach Cities are Atlanta, Baltimore, D.C., Los Angeles and Memphis.  The ultimate design of “Fabulous 50 to SEXY at 60” Lecture Series is to leave behind a Coalition that will plan ongoing quarterly health events, grow a "membership" base and take health education throughout their city to churches, community groups and the under served community.

In addition to the media exposure, participant outreach is further optimized by "Fabulous 50 to SEXY at 60"' partnerships with important medical, media and community organizations. Sponsors' participation is maximized by exciting pre-event promotions, radio interviews and call-in features to help make "Fabulous 50 to SEXY at 60"' one of the leading Baby Boomer health events. "Fabulous 50 to SEXY at 60" campaign begins 3-4 weeks prior to the Lecture Series, with promotions and ends with "Fabulous 50 to SEXY at 60" Lecture Series.

Mission: Gather Physicians, Community, Religious and Thought leaders together, who have large constituents, along with the local church or community to panel and discuss diseases which critically affect African American community, such as Cardiovascular disease, Diabetes, Hypertension, Cholesterol, Obesity, prostate cancer and HIV-AIDS.  Lecture series can encompass all diseases or just one or two.  A panel of physicians, health professionals and Community Thought Leader (survivors), facilitate each session.   A leading African American TV Anchor moderates, and both video and audio records can be taken, depending upon budget.   Currently Video Records of the Philadelphia Panel are part of our library, and future Video records can be offered to local and national educational Television and Radio Stations in the future, giving sponsorship credits.

Objective.  Create a CALL TO ACTION which establishes a Coalition of community and religious leaders, health professionals, disease-based organizations and churches to commit to a 1-year development project that will consist of a CALL TO ACTION (see sample) addressing Critical diseases affecting African Americans, education (a PLAN to educate community) and racial disparities as it relates to what coalition can do to decrease these numbers.  We have successfully modeled two prototypes (specifically related to Prostate Cancer) in Detroit and St. Louis, and wish to expand these both to other diseases and other cities, based upon the areas of support for this project.

The lecture series event concludes with spotlight recognitions given to local partners, celebrity supporters, sponsors, and community leaders.  Past and current celebrity supporters include author and talk show host Tavis Smiley; Singers, Damon Harris, Billy Davis and Marilyn McCoo; actors Edward James Olmos, Lou Gossett Jr., and Harry Belefonte;  The Harlem Globetrotters, and the National Basketball Association (NBA).

This Coalition plans quarterly educational seminars, workshops, luncheons and awards ceremonies featuring the diseases introduced at the Lecture Series.
